Fun on the town
Went out in London last friday with the guys from work. After a few pints in the pub near work, we got the train into town and made our way to camden. Amongst others, we had a few in the worlds end pub near the tube station. I don't think I've ever been in there before, though I gather it's quite well known, strange place really. Not many pubs have mezzanine floors, though I suppose it's not completely unheard of - I think the revolution bar in bristol had a mezzanine of sorts, if I remember correctly.
Always odd going to camden mind, it's like going to the freak town of london. Like if you wanted to see posh ra people you'd go to chelsea or sloane square, chinatown for oriental people, brixton to see people from the west indies, or upton park for asian people etc etc, so for camden there live the freakish goths. Bit of a weird way to put it I know, I suppose that makes it sound like someone might be looking around london 'now where can I find me a such and such a person?'. Never mind.
Met up with jam after eating in a lush malaysian/thai restaurant called silks & spice in camden. Went to see Owen's band Genius again, this time in Cafe de Paris next to Picadilly Circus. Not bad really, I missed a few of their songs but nice to meet up with jam none the less. Funnily enough, the drinks were a tad dear, £4 a bottle for kronenberg, bit tight considering the bottles were really not much more than half a pint each. But what can one reasonably expect in the heart of the west end i guess? Even the wetherspoons in Leicester square isn't all that cheap. But the band were pretty good again, especially that song called 'Her Majesty'. Big fan of that one in particular, after listening to it a few times on their web site (
www.thegeniusband.com).
The week's been fairly productive so far - got plenty done at work the last few days, done a few clothes washes and kept up with the washing up, got the papers for my loan through from the AA today, so hopefully the money should clear over the next few days, so I can consolidate cards and get some new tyres for my car etc. Might get in some bank holiday overtime next monday in work. I'll be needing the money in time for July when me n k are off to benicassim festival in spain, so it might be nice to actually have some cash for that.

over the top praise
I was thinking earlier how cringing it can be when people give you loads and loads of praise when you haven't done that much, and a simple 'good effort' or something like that would suffice. Not that this sort of praise comes particularly often in life, mind! Just thinking that the following phrase almost works to sum it up (especially at work):
give me credit and I will be thankful
give me cash and I will be grateful indeed.
does it have 2 meanings? does it have any meaning? not sure really. Just thought I'd share that on here.
